Synthesizer sound – short program;

Task 1)

Use synthesis techniques to write SuperCollider code for SynthDefs. Use them to create different synths. For instance they can be different in frequency, amplitude, modulation, length (envelops), panning, … Experiment with Unit Generators.

Create 3 SynthDefs and make a variety of instances of each.

Task 2)

Comment shortly on the purposes and implementation of your synthesis techniques.

Task3)

Explain shortly the purpose of arguments and envelops in SynthDefs.

Sub-Assignment 2 19 December 2014 ‘Music Concréte’

Audio sample sound – short program;

Task 1)

Use sampling techniques to write SuperCollider code for SynthDefs. Use them to create different synths. Experiment with reverb. Use the Mouse for control in at least on of your SynthDefs. Experiment with Unit Generators.

Create 3 SynthDefs and make a variety of instances of each.

Task 2)

Comment shortly on the purposes and implementation of your sampling techniques. Record a 60 sec demo of your sounds.

Task 3)

Explain shortly the purpose of Buffer and PlayBuf.

Sub-Assignment 3 30 January 2014 ‘Composition’

Short program implementing sequencing techniques;

Task 1)

Write SuperCollider code for sequencing synths. Use either Routines, Patterns or Clocks.

Task 2)

Comment on the purposes and implementation of your synthesis techniques. Record a 2 min demo of your sounds.

Task 3)

Explain iteration and Functions.

These assignments are based on concepts and techniques given in your lectures.
